In 2004, RISS began building an infrastructure built around industry-standard secure credential exchange using the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) framework developed by the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS). Currently, RISS is a charter member of two major law enforcement and justice-related secure information sharing federations:

• The Global Federated Identity and Privilege Management (GFIPM) federation
• The Law Enforcement Information Sharing Program (LEISP) Trusted Broker federation

If you are a member of the GFIPM federation and you are trying to access resources on RISSNET, you must first authenticate to your Identity Provider.
