The RISS Money Counter Program (MCP) database was developed by WSIN. The database stores currency serial numbers for comparison to currency submitted by officers in previous cases. Authorized users can query the MCP to determine whether a note has been previously stored. Currency information, such as the serial number, is captured and stored by money counter scanning devices, then uploaded into the MCP by the case officer. The MCP is a powerful tool to combat case-related crimes, such as money laundering and counterfeiting, and enables officers to “follow the money,” enhances investigative efforts, and assists with connecting cases.
